What is Home Care?
Home Care refers
to non-medical care such as Companionship
and Homemaking Services or Personal
Care services in the home.
Home Care vs. Home Healthcare?
Home Care typically
refers to non-medical care such
as Companionship and Homemaking
Services or Personal Care services.
Home healthcare
refers to the provision of skilled
nursing care and other care such
as speech, physical or occupational
therapy.
Who needs Home Care?
The five Activities
of Daily Living (ADLs) that people
perform to survive and function
in daily life are feeding, dressing,
toileting, hygiene and ambulation.
Home care greatly benefits individuals
who are unable to perform any one
or more of these activities.
Assisting Seniors
provides no-charge, no-obligation,
in-home assessments by experienced,
professional specialist who help
determine if there is a need for
care.
Are there minimum
care requirements?
No. Assisting
Seniors is on call for you whenever
you need us. Whether it simply
be for an emergency service, a few
hours a week, or everyday.
Please contact
your local Assisting Seniors office
to learn more about a personalized
in-home care plan for you.
How is a Personal Caregiver chosen?
Assisting Seniors'
priority is that our Personal Caregivers
are kind and reliable. Additionally,
every one of our Personal Caregivers
is subject to a criminal background
check, a thorough interview, a competency
test and personal and employment
reference checks.
All employees
are licensed and bonded by Assisting
Seniors.
Are the caregivers bonded
& insured?
Yes. Every Assisting
Seniors caregiver is an employee
of our agency. We perform a criminal
history background clearance on
each caregiver, and cover each of
them with general liability insurance
and worker’s compensation insurance.
May I choose who comes
to my home?
Yes. We make it
our job to match the right caregiver(s)
with each client. We
will never send a caregiver whom
you are not satisfied with
and we will accommodate any request
for a change that you may have.
Will the same caregiver
come each time?
Our experience
is that developing a strong rapport
and trust with your caregiver is
a vital component to a successful
home care experience. In short,
we want to avoid the “revolving
door” of caregivers.
Thus, our clients can
keep the same caregiver
as long as they are satisfied.
However, it may be necessary to
schedule more than one caregiver
in a given week depending on the
hours you need. Given that,
we want to have the same
caregiver(s) coming each week,
as long as you are happy with them.
Any and all such decisions will
be made with the consent of the
client.
Are home care services
covered by
insurance or Medicare?
Many long-term
care insurance, worker’s compensation,
and automobile insurance policies
will reimburse for these kinds of
services. Additionally, funds from
Reverse Mortgages, Health Savings
Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts
are often used to pay for home care.
Assisting Seniors has preferred
relationships with many such companies.
We will help you and your family
through every step of the process
involved with determining what a
policy will actually cover, and
we will provide any documentation
your insurance company requests.
Medicare does not currently pay
for this type of hourly companion
and personal care service.
If I change my mind,
do I have to keep the
service?
No. You will
never be locked into a long-term
contract, and Assisting
Seniors will never require you to
continue with services if you choose
not to.
How can I verify a shift
was completed
for a family member?
Assisting Seniors's
caregivers are required to call
in from the client's home when they
arrive, and call in when they are
leaving. These calls are logged
with the clients number to ensure
accurate billing. Verification
can be provided any time it is requested.
Invoices are always sent
after the completion of
services, so any requested adjustments
to schedules are taken care of before
the invoice is sent.
How is the privacy of
my personal
information maintained?
Your
information will never be sold to
any 3rd party or affiliate under
any circumstances. Only
the office personnel and caregivers
who are directly involved in your
services will have access to information
related to your care.
We comply with all applicable federal
and state guidelines related to
privacy of personal and healthcare
information as soon as your relationship
with Assisting Seniors begins, and
continues throughout that relationship.
Our service agreement
stipulates the exact restrictions
on the use of your information,
which clarifies that even unauthorized
family members will not be given
access to information without the
client’s or legally authorized representative’s
formal consent.
Why should I choose Home Care?
Home care
is in the home
Home is where
we are most secure. Among
other things, home is where we enjoy
the comfort of our surroundings
and the joy of being with our loved
ones.
Home care
keeps families together
Home is where
families meet, particularly in times
of illness where families can be
near one another for support.
Home care
is a wonderful alternative to admission
to a long-term care facility.
Home is where
most people would prefer to stay
as long as possible. Home
care can provide services that are
customizable to the client’s needs.
Home care
fosters healing
Scientific evidence
exists proving that many patients
heal faster at home.
Home care
is safer
Risks, such as
infection, are eliminated or minimized
when care is provided in the home.
Home care
promotes freedom for the
individual
Home care allows
patients to remain active in their
customary daily routines.
Home care
fosters continuity
The patient’s
physician continues to oversee his
or her care.
Home care is personalized
to the needs of each individual
Home care patients
receive one-on-one care and attention.
Home care
is less expensive
Since skilled
care is not needed around the clock,
home care can allow you to create
a customized care plan that meets
your needs and your budget.
Home
care is preferred
Studies have shown
that 95% of those age 75 and older
prefer to stay in their current
residence rather than leave.
How do I arrange for Home Care
services?
Contact our offices
and a Care Specialist will
conduct a consultation and assessment
with you.
After that consultation,
a highly flexible, personalized
and suitable care plan is developed
and an appropriate Personal Caregiver
is assigned.
Please contact
your local Assisting Seniors office
to learn more about our personalized
in-home care plans in your area.
Who pays the Personal Caregiver?
Assisting Seniors
is responsible for all the administrative,
billing, payroll and tax concerns
involved in the employee process.
